I recently had to install a clean instance of FireFox so I took the opportunity to cut down on the large number of extensions I user, these are the ones I can’t live without:

FoxyTunes Includes all sorts of wank, but the useful thing is the media player controls in the status bar of the browser Info & Install
HelloTxt sidebar Update your status in loads of different social sites (facebook, twitter etc.) from your browser Info & Install
IETab For those sites that really must insist on use IE to work (web outlook for example) you can have an IE Tab so you still don’t need to leave FireFox Info & Install
Image Zoom Zoom images on a website by twirling your scroll wheel while holding the right click button – awesome for pages with huge images on Info & Install
Link Alert Changes the mouse cursor to show what sort of file you’re about to click on Info & Install
MMD WordPress Extension Adds a tiny statusbar panel that shows your wordpress blog hit count Info & Install
NoScript Stops scripts and flash running on websites unless you let them Info & Install
Tab Mix Plus Gives you a lot more options to control the tabbed browsing features Info & Install
